In a perfectly fitting final story from a very strange year, residents in the city of Texarkana were left scratching their heads when a storm swept over the area and, in the process, rained a bevy of fish down onto the area. According to a local media report, the weird weather event unfolded on Wednesday afternoon in the eastern Texas community. "It was hailing and looked like there was about to be a tornado and there were fish falling," marveled witness Tim Brigham, who spotted around 30 of the small silvery creatures scattered around the ground outside of his tire store. The scene at the shop was the same throughout the community as the veritable 'fish storm' blanketed parts of Texarkana.
The city went so far as to alert residents to the peculiar turn of events, posting to Facebook that "2021 is pulling out all the tricks, including raining fish in Texarkana today. And no, this isn't a joke." To that end, perhaps hoping to ease any concerns that the event may have been apocalyptic in nature, they went on to explain that such bizarre rainfall has been known to occur in the past when "frogs, crabs, and small fish are swept up in waterspouts or drafts" and then deposited alongside the rain by the storm that snatched them. Echoing the mood of many as the year draws to a close, the city mused that "for the sake of everyone, let's tiptoe into 2022 as quietly as possible."
