Video: Flamethrower-Equipped Robot Dog for Sale from Ohio Company

By Tim Binnall

An Ohio company that manufactures flamethrowers has unveiled a rather unsettling new addition to their line of products: a robot dog that can shoot fire up to thirty feet. Dubbed the 'Thermonator,' the nightmarish creation is the brainchild of the business Throwflame. In announcing the creation of the first-of-its-kind automaton, the company stressed that the flamethrower-equipped robot dog is not intended to be a weapon and put forward several practical uses for the remote-controlled device such as wildlife control, snow removal, and, simply, entertainment.

While one might wonder if such a device is even legal in the United States, Throwflame indicates that there are actually no federal regulations on flamethrowers and, in fact, Maryland is the only state to require a license for such equipment. To celebrate the arrival of the Thermonator, which sells for $9,420, the company released a promotional video showcasing the fire-dispersing robot dog which also boasts a laser sight and the ability to deftly maneuver in the darkness as if it were not already terrifying enough.
