In a strange story out of China, a grey goose has become something of a sensation after its eggs were found to contain black yolks. The bird's baffling output reportedly came to light after pictures and videos of the peculiar inky yolks were posted on Chinese social media. According to the individual who shared the strange sight online, a friend who has several grey geese roaming around his farm gave him a batch of excess eggs produced by the birds. Although they initially appeared to be perfectly normal goose eggs, the man was stunned when he cracked two of them open and saw that they contained unsettling pitch-black yolks.
Were the man looking to gain attention online, it would seem that the goose had laid a proverbial golden egg as the video of the black yolks quickly went viral in China. Confounded observers offered a variety of theories as to what could have caused the odd coloring with the most plausible possibility being that the goose had eaten black mulberries and this caused the yolks appearance to change. Since the bird's farm does contain such trees, many have latched on to that explanation for the curious condition of the eggs.
However, a poultry expert in China seemingly dismissed that prosaic answer, declaring that "scientifically speaking, such a phenomenon should not occur" and, in turn, posited that it could be due to pollution. Amazingly, the black yolks have caused such a stir that the country's Academy of Agricultural Sciences say that they want to study them to try and solve the mystery. However, it would appear that these particular yolks featured in the video are now long gone, meaning that everyone will just have to wait and see if the geese lay any more 'magical' eggs.
