Pro wrestling legend Hulk Hogan claims that he received a voicemail from his longtime rival 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper two days after he had passed away. The eyebrow-raising account was shared by the Hulkster during a recent appearance on The 700 Club. Sharing his "crazy wrestling story" with the host, Hogan explained that he and Piper "couldn't stand each other" during their careers, but had become close friends after their wrestling days had wound down. "We would text every single day," the Hulkster recalled, until "all of a sudden, he passes away."
Two days later, while watching a TV special on his friend's illustrious career, Hogan said, "when they get ready to go to credits," he suddenly received a voicemail from Piper. The Hulkster went on to recount how, in the message, his departed friend declared "I'm just loving you, my brother. I'm just walkin’ with Jesus. Walkin’ with Jesus and loving you, my brother." Reflecting on the remarkable voicemail, Hogan mused that "he would have never said that when he was here. It is amazing how things work."
Since Hogan has gained something of a reputation as a fabulist in wrestling circles due to his penchant for telling tall tales about his legendary career, the voicemail claim was initially dismissed by many as yet another dubious recollection from the Hulkster. However, in this instance, it would appear that the account was actually on the level as an unearthed segment from a different TV special (seen below) features Hogan sharing a similar version of the story along with the actual message from Piper.
