A mysterious cow that has been seen grazing around a lake in Oklahoma for the past year has become something of a legend in the area with residents likening the elusive animal's appearances to those of Bigfoot. According to a local media report, the rather sizeable creature was first spotted sometime last year around Lake Thunderbird in the city of Norman. Over the ensuing months, an increasing number of residents reported observing the cow as it passed through their property before vanishing into the wilderness and, thanks to the power of social media, a star was soon born: Thundercow.
Recounting her encounter with the mysterious creature from earlier this year, resident Natalie Bevill recalled how "she just sort of popped out of nowhere. It startled us because it's a loose cow and it's pitch-black outside." Understandably perplexed by the odd experience, she shared her story on a local Facebook group and "I started getting post after post after post in response telling me, 'Oh, hey, that’s just Thundercow.'" In addition to tales from those who had come across the cow, residents also provided photos of the animal lurking in the wilderness in a manner not unlike Sasquatch.
While it would seem that the existence of Thundercow is fairly certain, some in the community have ascribed an almost mystical nature of the creature as no one is certain of its origins attempts to track down the animal have proven futile. "Many have tried, but no one can get her," resident Jessica Kelley explained, suggesting that the cow has managed to evade being found because "she travels in the dark." Since no one stepping forward to claim ownership of the wandering cow, the community as a whole has embraced their bovine visitor as a proverbial mascot with Bevill marveling that the "legend of Thundercow continues to grow" with each new sighting of the mysterious creature.
