Video: Nearly $40,000 in Cash Found Hidden in Bathrooms of Ohio Businesses

By Tim Binnall

Authorities in an Ohio city have a rather weird mystery on their hands following the discovery of nearly $40,000 in cash that had been hidden in the bathrooms of two Ohio businesses. According to a local media report, the strange case began late last month in the community of Marysville when a worker at the Avalon Theatre stumbled upon a bundle of money surreptitiously stashed in the establishment's restroom. The sizeable find of approximately $25,000 was made all the more perplexing by way of a similar discovery that occurred in the bathroom of the city's Kentucky Fried Chicken last week. In that instance, an employee came across around $12,000 that was also covertly placed in the restaurant's bathroom.

"They were hidden in a way that you would have to know where to look to find them," explained Nate Sachs of the Marysville Police Division, noting that the bundles of cash were not simply "behind a trash can or anything like that." As one might imagine, cops are keen to get to the bottom of who put the money in the bathrooms and, more importantly, why. Calling the case "truly bizarre," Sach mused that it is particularly "weird" that such discoveries were made "two times in one week in our town." Although police have not yet connected the two incidents, their strikingly similar nature suggests that they are somehow related. What do you think is behind the odd Marysville money mystery?
