A man walking on a beach in Australia was left scratching his head when he stumbled upon the rather nightmarish remains of a mysterious creature that had washed ashore. The unsettling find was reportedly made by Alex Tan as he was out for one of his regular morning strolls along the country's Maroochydore Beach. The young man's normally routine daily excursion took a very weird turn when he encountered the somewhat bloated carcass of a four legged creature with an exposed skull, a long tail, and an unnerving set of front paws that look eerily similar to a pair of human hands.
Sharing a video of the hideous find (which can be seen below) on Instagram, Tan mused that "this is like one of those things you see when people claim that they found aliens." Zooming in on the repulsive remains which had attracted the attention of flies, the young man understandably marvels "how weird is that." He goes on to observe that the creature appears to be a hairless possum, but concedes that it is "different to anything I've seen."
As one might imagine, there has been no shortage of theories online with some echoing Tan's suggestion while others have suggested that the animal could be a young kangaroo. Longtime fans of strange and unusual 'mystery creatures' have likened Tan's discovery to the infamous 'Montauk Monster,' which washed ashore in New York back in 2018 and became something of a sensation before it was determined to be a dead raccoon. To that end, what do you think stumbling upon during his morning walk? Share your best guess with us at the C2C Facebook page.
