The federal government has indicted two men who were allegedly the 'stars' of a jaw-dropping viral video wherein they vandalized a protected rock formation in Nevada earlier this year. The astounding footage, which spawned headlines and outrage back in April, showed two individuals gleefully toppling pieces of the ancient formation located at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Aghast authorities quickly set about trying to identify the men and, on Friday, the Department of Justice announced that the suspected perpetrators have been indicted for the brazen act of vandalism.
According to a press release, Wyatt Clifford Fain and Payden David Guy Cosper "were each charged with one count of injury and depredation of government property and one count of aiding and abetting." The pair are set to go on trial in early October and, if they are found guilty, could face a whopping decade in prison for the profoundly misguided misadventure at Lake Mead. One imagines that when US Marshals took them into custody last week, they were far less jubilant than they were on that fateful day in April when they were caught on film allegedly committing the unfortunate crime.
