A Massachusetts woman walking her dog in a park was left scratching her head when she stumbled upon a sizeable piece of artwork that someone had carefully crafted out of pinecones. According to a local media report, Margaret Zeitouny made the odd discovery this past weekend during a visit to Cedarwood Park in the city of Waltham. The normally routine stroll with her pet pooch, Senna, took a wondrous turn when she spotted the strange pinecone formation shaped like a mandala. "It's a circle pattern with a repetitive design," she observed, "making them is a meditative thing."
As one might imagine, when pictures of the puzzling find were posted on Facebook, there was no shortage of theories as to where the mysterious piece may have originated. Some suggested that the pinecone formation could have been created by aliens or that it might be satanic in nature, though Zeitouny laughingly dismissed those fantastic possibilities. Instead, she posited that it was probably a piece of art crafted by a student from a local college. "I appreciate that someone spent a significant amount of time putting it together," Zeitouny said, "I don't know if the artist is coming up and checking on it, but I am. I want to take a picture a day until it's not there anymore."
