Researchers surveying wildlife along a stretch of beach in Texas keep stumbling upon creepy dolls that have eerily washed ashore. According to a local media report, the very weird phenomenon was first noticed last year by workers with the Mission-Aransas Reserve as they were studying the various creatures that inhabit a forty-mile-long swath of the Texas Coastal Bend. Since that time, the team have found dozens of the dolls with each toy seemingly more unnerving than the last. "The creepiest are the ones that have lost all their hair," observed group director Jace Tunnell, who shares photos of the unsettling finds on the organization's social media pages.
"We're actually doing scientific work, but the dolls are a perk," he jokingly explained regarding the strange discoveries which have become something of a sensation with each newfound nightmarish piece of debris garnering considerable response online. Beyond merely raising awareness about the organization's efforts to study the coastline, the toys have also generated funds for the group by way of an annual auction. As for why the dolls keep washing ashore at that particular stretch of beach, he explained that "Texas coastal bend beaches get 10 times the amount of trash than any other beach in the Gulf of Mexico" due to what is known as a 'current loop.'
