An eerie video circulating online shows what some believe to be the ghost of a legendary figure from Singaporean folklore known as the German girl. The spooky scene was reportedly filmed by a security guard on the island of Pulau Ubin. According to local lore, the young woman was a German national who lived there during the first World War and perished when she fell from a cliff while fleeing invading British forces. While the tale has been disputed by historians, the alleged final resting place of the apocryphal character has transformed into a shrine over the years, with many visitors leaving offerings to the German girl and it is said that, on occasion, her spirit manifests before them.
In this instance, however, the possible appearance of the ghost was apparently inadvertent as the security guard's footage was actually intended to be a video for his boss wherein he explained that a rainstorm was preventing him from walking the grounds that night. Later looking at the footage, he was stunned to see what appears to be a woman dashing alongside a wall. Many viewers believe that the peculiar figure is the legendary German girl wearing an "old medieval gown," which is somewhat incongruous since she purportedly died in 1914. To that end, skeptical observers argue that the 'spirit' is simply a living human being wearing a raincoat and running to avoid getting soaked. What's your take on the video?
