CCTV footage captured a massive sinkhole opening at Gordon Moore Park in Alton, Illinois. The hole, about 100 feet across and 50 feet deep, swallowed a light pole, benches, and artificial turf. Fortunately, no one was on the pitch at the time. The area has been cordoned off, and the sinkhole is believed to be caused by subsidence from nearby limestone mining. Such incidents can be fatal, as shown by the 2013 case of Jeff Bush, who was swallowed by a sinkhole while sleeping and was never found.
