The latest crop formation found in England sits approximately a half-mile from Stonehenge and boasts a rather unusual square shape. The odd occurrence of the mysterious phenomenon, showcased in the drone video above, was reportedly discovered on Sunday near an ancient burial site known as Normanton Down Barrows. The fairly basic design of the proverbial 'crop square' features circles embedded on each side of the angular piece.
Crop circle researchers have proposed a couple of interpretations for the curious design. One observer suggested that the circles are meant to convey the phases of the moon. Another pointed to the two 'layers' that comprise the square and posited that this is a sign of "protection from outside influences." The formation found on Sunday is the second to appear near Stonehenge this year after a weird 'starfish' design was discovered in late June.
