A strange video purportedly showing a rather sizeable UFO hovering over a lake in North Carolina has spawned gasps from some ET enthusiasts and groans from skeptical viewers. The weird scene was reportedly captured by a man named Jason Swing back in late May at Lake Norman in the town of Mooresville. Although the footage was posted online shortly thereafter, it only recently caught the attention of various media outlets that cover the enigmatic UFO phenomenon.
The video begins with Swing making his assessment of the situation abundantly clear as he declares, "hey, this is a spacecraft." He then points the camera towards the lake where a fairly large, cylindrical object can be seen in the sky over the water. Unfortunately, there are only a few glimpses of the UFO in the footage as, for reasons unexplained, Swing erratically shakes the camera in a frantic fashion that may leave viewers feeling sea sick by the time the video comes to a close.
While some UFO enthusiasts have expressed intrigue over the footage, the unorthodox 'cinematography' has garnered nearly as much attention as the odd object in the sky. The unsteady nature of the video raised the ire of many observers who wondered why Swing did not simply stand still and film the UFO. To that end, skeptical viewers have suggested that the inexplicable shaking was actually an intentional tactic aimed at increasing the 'mystery' surrounding the object which they suspect was probably a blimp that was in the area for a nearby NASCAR race.
Fans of Forteana will note that the potential UFO is not the first case of high strangeness to be associated with Lake Norman. The site is allegedly home to some kind of mysterious sea creature that locals have affectionately dubbed 'Normie' after a series of sightings over the years. However, much like Swing's flying saucer, the legendary denizen of the deep is also seen by skeptics as unlikely to exist since the site is actually an artificial lake.
