Authorities in Italy are on the hunt for a misguided miscreant who spray painted the words 'Aliens Exist' on the side of Rome's famed Pantheon. According to a local media report, the senseless act of vandalism occurred approximately two weeks ago when some individual operating under the cloak of darkness managed to scrawl the strange message on the centuries-old structure which once served as a Roman temple and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city, drawing millions of visitors each year. In addition to the declaration that extraterrestrials are real, the ne'er-do-well 'thoughtfully' included what appear to be a pair of UFOs alongside their bold decree.
Given the building's cultural significance and its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, removing the graffiti was understandably a delicate procedure which was done by archaeological experts armed with special cleaning solvents and, of all things, lasers. Meanwhile, the incident gave rise to something of a scandal in Rome as, when police went to examine security footage from the site, they discovered that the camera that would have caught the culprit had actually stopped working a while ago and was never replaced. As such, authorities are now also looking into that egregious oversight while also trying to track down the alien-aficionado who caused the whole mess.
