Video: Viral 'Cowboy Pigeon' Captured

By Tim Binnall

Animal rescue workers in Las Vegas have successfully captured one of the cowboy hat-wearing pigeons that became something of a viral sensation last week. The curiously dressed creatures were initially spotted earlier this month and, by virtue of their weird Western attire, the odd sighting wound up making worldwide headlines. While most observers were understandably amused by the birds' predicament, pigeon advocacy group Lofty Hopes expressed concern over their condition and set about trying to find the animals.

After six days of searching, the organization reportedly managed to capture one of the birds on Monday and subsequently dubbed the creature 'Cluck Norris.' Upon closer inspection, their fears were confirmed as it was determined that the red cowboy hat that sat atop the pigeon's head had been stuck there using glue. They now plan to bring the bird to a veterinarian to determine the best course of action as far as removing the little Stetson affixed to its noggin.

While the group waits to find out how to safely remove Cluck Norris' red headwear, they continue to be on the lookout for the bird's co-star in the viral video. That pigeon, given the moniker 'Coolamity Jane' by Lofty Hopes, was seen wearing a light pink hat and is presumably still roaming the streets of Las Vegas. It remains to be seen whether or not those are the only two birds who fell victim to prank as the group says that they've heard rumors of other pigeons being seen sporting hats, though these sightings have not been confirmed and may simply be a proverbial urban cowboy legend.
