Watch: Coyote Pulled From Chicago Grocery Store Cooler

By Tim Binnall

A wild video from Chicago shows animal control officers removing a coyote that had somehow found its way into the cooler of a grocery store. According to a local media report, the strange incident occurred on Monday at an Aldi in the city's Humboldt Park neighborhood. Seen earlier that day in the parking lot, the coyote subsequently managed to sneak into the store, where it hid in a cooler containing expensive cheeses. Although it is uncertain who discovered the creature, authorities were understandably quick to respond to the weird call.

Footage filmed by a witness to the weird scene shows an animal control officer pulling the coyote from the refrigeration unit as a colleague stands by ready to capture the creature, which he successfully did. The animal has since been handed over to an animal rehabilitation group that will ensure that it is no worse for wear from the misadventure before releasing it back into the wild. While it is unlikely that the coyote will wind up back at the store, shoppers may wish to be on guard in the event that it developed a taste for high-end cheese and decides to make a return.
