Motorists cruising down a highway in Florida yesterday undoubtedly did a double take at the bizarre sight of a creepy mallet-wielding clown that roamed around on a pedestrian bridge before fleeing the scene when cops arrived. According to a local media report, the strange scene (seen below) occurred on Tuesday morning when the haunting harlequin appeared on a walkway that spans the Palmetto Expressway in Miami-Dade county. To the surprise and confusion of commuters passing below, the creepy clown lingered on the bridge for quite some time, pacing back and forth while twirling a sizeable mallet.
The peculiar 'performance ended when the mysterious stranger caught sight of the cops as they arrived on the scene. In true phantom clown fashion, the harlequin managed to deftly escape the overpass before they could encounter him, vanishing into the proverbial ether and leaving police on the pedestrian bridge scratching their heads. Authorities have since asked the public to pass along any information they might have about the mysterious stranger, who one can only hope has not unleashed another election-year clown wave on us all.
