Watch: Creepy Doorbell Video Has Cops Concerned

By Tim Binnall

Authorities in Texas are asking the public for help in identifying a seemingly-distressed woman who was filmed ringing a doorbell of a home in the middle of the night and then disappeared. The creepy footage was posted online by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office this weekend after they were alerted to the incident by the homeowner. While weird doorbell videos have become almost commonplace with the growing number of homes using such devices, it's the nature of the woman's appearance which has raised concerns.

The mysterious visitor, who showed up at the doorstep of the home at around 3:30 AM early Friday morning, was barefoot and clad in only a t-shirt. On her wrists were what appear to be the remnants of some kind of restraints that she had, presumably, managed to break. Despite attempting to get the homeowner's attention at such an ungodly hour in the middle of the night, the eerie stranger subsequently left the scene as there was no one there when the resident opened the door.

The presence of those broken bindings has led several viewers to propose the unsettling possibility that the woman was a missing person who had escaped her captors and was looking for help. In turn, according to the Sheriff's Office, "numerous citizens in the state and outside have sent missing persons flyers suggesting the women in the video is a missing person from their area." However, an examination of those tips has yet to yield a strong lead in the case. As such, police hope their sharing of the spooky video, which has since gone viral, will lead to someone being able to identify the woman.
