Residents of Staten Island have reported seeing giant drones following similar sightings over US military bases and New Jersey.
"They weren't like a normal drone somebody would purchase and use at their home. They were large—somebody described as large as an SUV," said Evesham Police Chief Walt Miller during a conference on drone sightings in New Jersey last week.
Air Force Sergeant Walter Ziegler, a firsthand witness from Staten Island, said the car-sized drones he saw Thursday night had a "white light in the center and a red light on each side." Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis has requested federal agencies investigate these unmanned aerial vehicles and impose temporary flight restrictions on drones in the area.
According to Florham Park Police Chief Joseph Orlando, "Several drone sightings have been reported over critical infrastructure, such as water reservoirs, electric transmission lines, rail stations, police departments, and military installations," including US bases in the United Kingdom.
