A spooky video circulating online reveals the unsettling contents of an eerie box that was discovered during a home renovation project and bears the worrisome warning 'do not release.' The chilling footage was posted to TikTok by a couple who have been showcasing some of the strange finds that they have made while refurbishing a house from the 1920s which they purchased at an auction last year. The wildly popular series has seen them discover a hidden room and other odd objects within the residence and, recently while fixing a brick wall, they unearthed a rather peculiar box with the words inscribed with the words 'peidiwch ar ryddhau,' or 'do not release,' along with a pentagram inscribed on the side.
Shortly thereafter, the homeowners say, they noticed a rattling sound coming from a mirror in the home and, upon smashing the glass to see what was making the noise, they found a curious key. As 'luck' would have it, the discovery allowed them to open the ominous box and, of course, the big moment was captured on film for the world to see. In the video, one of the homeowners can be seen unlocking the small wooden container and lifting the lid to reveal what they rightly described as "really strange objects." Specifically, the box contained a necklace, what appears to be a burnt Ouija board planchette, and a lock of hair.
The story behind the unnerving 'package' is matter of speculation with some suggesting that the objects were part of some kind of ritual and that the homeowners may have wound up cursing themselves by opening the forbidden box. Others have argued that perhaps the items were placed there by the previous residents as part of an elaborate prank aimed at the next family to occupy the house. And, skeptical viewers have argued that the serialized nature of the homeowners' story, which now includes the discovery of a second key for a yet-to-be-found box, suggests that it may all be a well-crafted hoax. Should that be the case, it's been a wildly successful venture as their videos have amassed over 100 million viewers over the past few weeks. With that in mind, what's your take on the footage?
