Workers aboard an oil rig off the coast of Brazil were understandably mystified when they spotted an eerie and rather sizeable glow emanating from beneath the water. Footage of the curious scene, which reportedly unfolded in the Campos Basin near Rio de Janeiro, popped up online earlier this week and spread like wildfire on social media. In the video, one of the witnesses alerts the other workers to the weird submerged illumination off in the distance, marveling "what is that, dude? What a crazy light."
The group of observers aboard the oil rig debate the source of the strange glow with the primary witness pointing out that it was not from the sun as he points his camera in the direction of the recent sunset. Noting that the light appeared to be decreasing, the baffled worker ultimately expresses astonishment at what he is seeing "in the middle of nowhere." As for what could have produced the peculiar illumination, some have suggested that it was the result of bioluminescent creatures, while others have posited that it could have been a submarine or even something alien in nature.
