A bizarre winged creature with pulsing tentacle-like appendages was recently filmed in the home of Bali resident, Hari Toae, who seemed to take the appearance of the alien-like critter in stride. "I will let it stay in my house, but only for the night," he declared. "It's not something I've ever seen before. I don't think it comes from this neighborhood."
It turns out that his odd-looking guest is most likely a type of moth native to Australia and Southeast Asia. Typically looking like a normal moth, when the creatonotos gangis prepares to mate, it inflates four tubular scent glands, which accounts for the tentacle appearance.
