A bizarre video out of Mexico purportedly shows a humanoid creature, thought by some to be a legendary type of goblin, discovered lurking in a cave. According to a local media report, the fantastic footage was posted on social media last week by an individual who claimed to have encountered the creepy being on the outskirts of Veracruz. In the video, the face of the figure, which eerily resembles that of a small person, can be seen poking out of a hole in response to what one imagines was an unexpected visitor to its subterranean dwelling. Seemingly disturbed by the presence of the interloper behind the camera, the creature unleashes a series of chilling shrieks.
Since being posted online, the footage has gone viral on social media in Mexico and beyond with many mystified viewers speculating as to what the weird being could have been. To that end, the witness who posted the video asserted that the haunting figure was a goblin-like entity from Mexican folklore known as a chaneque. While some have agreed with that assessment, more skeptical observers suggest that the footage is simply too good to be true and, as such, likely an AI fabrication or some other kind of clever hoax.
