The home security system of a residence in California was seemingly triggered by an eerie dark cloud that passed across a driveway in the middle of the night and some have wondered if the curious anomaly could have been a ghost. The peculiar moment reportedly occurred in the community of Modesto over the summer, although the motion-activated camera footage only surfaced this past week when the homeowner's brother posted it online. He explained that prior to the incident "the dogs were barking all night long and my sister kept looking outside to see what was up but saw nothing." A few hours later, however, she received a notification from her security system that it had picked up some puzzling activity outside.
In the video, which captured at around three in the morning, a curious mist-like form mysteriously wafts across the driveway. The spooky anomaly appears to be fairly solid as it manages to obscure the truck behind it. After a few seconds, the undulating cloud eventually dissipates and ultimately vanishes from view. It would appear that the weird 'visitor,' whatever it might have been, was responsible for triggering the motion sensing camera as there is nothing else in the scene which could account for why it would suddenly come to life. While one might suspect that perhaps the oddity was merely fog, the homeowner's brother insists that the incident took place on a clear night.
With that in mind, some observers have suggested that the security system actually filmed a ghost that just happened to be lingering outside the woman's home. Her brother indicated that they believe that might be the case as "we sees stuff in the house all the time but we never felt like it was dangerous so we do our thing and the ghost does their thing." Skeptical viewers, of course, offer a more grounded assessment of the footage, positing that the 'spirit' was probably something prosaic like a video artifact created by the camera.
