A jaw-dropping piece of security camera footage from Turkey shows a man trying to secure an umbrella during a windy storm and subsequently being sent soaring into the air. The incredible scene reportedly took place at a market in the town of Kadirli on Tuesday. As the wind swept through the plaza, Sadik Kocadalli saw that one of the umbrellas had started to move. Thinking fast, he jumped up from his seat and ran over to stand on its base.
It was at that point that Kocadalli did something of an impromptu Mary Poppins impression as the mighty wind picked up the umbrella, including its base and the stunned man standing on it. According to him, the frightening ride did not last too long as he flew around nine to fifteen feet into the air before realizing that "this won't work" and he jumped down to the ground. Fortunately, Kocadalli landed safely and without any injuries.
However, an onlooker at the market was not quite as lucky since, as we all know, what goes up must come down. In this case, it was the umbrella which eventually plummeted to the ground and wound up landing on a man named Mehmet Ali Bicakci, who was both knocked unconscious and broke several bones. Meanwhile, the video of Kocadalli airborne adventure has gone viral in Turkey with some clever individuals on social media dubbing the man "Turkey's first astronaut."
