An unexpected 'pundit' has weighed in on Tuesday's hotly contested US presidential election as Moo Deng, Thailand's beloved baby pygmy hippopotamus, has predicted that Donald Trump will come out on top. A viral sensation since her birth this past summer, the delightfully pudgy and perpetually wet little creature was reportedly tasked with exercising her potential psychic powers on Monday at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo where she resides. Similar to Super Bowl predictions made by animals across America every February, the event saw handlers present Moo Deng with a pair of fruit baskets featuring the names of the two presidential candidates vying for the White House in this year's election.
After sizing up the options and perhaps weighing the issues, the baby pygmy hippo ultimately opted for the fruit basket representing former president Donald Trump. Meanwhile, in what may be a testament to the tightness of the race or simply because the offering had gone untouched, Moo Deng's mother feasted on the Kamala Harris-themed treat. Time will tell whether or not Moo Deng's prognostication turns out to be correct, though if she did forecast a Trump victory that ultimately comes to pass, the hippo would not be the first animal to pull off such a feat. In 2016, a "mystic Chinese monkey" named Geda made headlines when he accurately predicted that Trump would prevail over Hillary Clinton.
