Watch: Mystery Creature Resembling Loch Ness Monster Filmed Off Coast of Ireland

By Tim Binnall

A man walking along a beach in Ireland captured footage of a long-necked mystery creature that bears an uncanny resemblance to the classic image of the Loch Ness Monster. The remarkable video was reportedly filmed earlier this month by witness Dean Beattie in the coastal community of Buncrana. His trip to the beach took a wondrous turn when he looked out on the water and saw something truly strange emerge approximately 60 feet from shore. The jaw-dropping anomaly appeared to be the head of a long-necked creature that looked eerily similar to the iconic 'surgeon's photo' of the Loch Ness Monster. Amazingly, Beattie indicated that the sighting lasted for a staggering 20 minutes wherein the creature repeatedly submerged and then reappeared.

"We sat and watched it," he recalled, "then it just disappeared from sight." The bewildered witness conceded that his footage (seen below) is "not the best of videos as my phone died when I started to record." That said, based on his lengthy observation of the mystery creature, Beattie mused that "it wasn’t a swan, a seal, or anything I’ve ever seen." While many have understandably likened the anomalous aquatic animal to Nessie due to its long neck, since the sighting occurred in Ireland, many have noted that the country has a rich folkloric history of similar 'sea monsters' known as Oilliphéist.
