An amazing turtle that is entirely yellow in color was recently captured in India. The wondrous creature was reportedly rescued by residents in the village of Sujanpur after they spotted the remarkable reptile roaming around their community. To their credit, rather than keeping the animal as an eye-catching mascot for the town or, worse, serving it up in some one-of-a-kind turtle soup, they opted to turn it over to wildlife officials, who were astounded by its magnificent appearance.
"The whole shell and body of the rescued turtle is yellow," marveled wildlife warden Bhanoomitra Acharya, "this is a rare turtle, I have never seen one like this." As for what may have caused its unique coloring, experts speculate that it is likely due to albinism. In sharing details about the creature on his Twitter feed, Indian Forest Services officer Susanta Nanda noted that the animal's eyes are pink, which is an indication of the condition.
