A Scottish woman could not believe her eyes when she looked out into her backyard and spotted a mysterious big cat roaming around the property. The surprising sighting reportedly occurred earlier this week in the community of Kirriemuir as witness Annie Mitchell was eating her lunch. The midday meal came to a sudden stop when she noticed an unexpected interloper lurking outside of her home in the form of a rather sizeable black feline. "My first thought was 'look at the size of that cat, what a long tail' and how big it was," she recalled, "I felt it was bigger than any cat I have seen."
Amazingly, Mitchell found the sight of the strange creature so intriguing that she bravely ventured outside her house to get a better look at the big cat and wound up observing it from just a few feet away. She later described the beast as being "longer than a Labrador dog but not as high," though she insisted that it was a feline as "its movement was low and prowling." Mitchell's sighting is the latest in what has been a series of recently reported encounters with big cats in Scotland this year, suggesting that the phenomenon of phantom felines is not necessarily exclusive to England, where such odd incidents occur with a fair amount of frequency.
