Arkansas police officers responding to a call about some wayward horses found themselves tangling with a much smaller, yet decidedly feistier creature when they ran afoul of a territorial turkey. The odd encounter occurred this past Sunday morning in the community of Jonesboro. Detailing the "violent attack" on social media, the city's police department explained that it all began when they received "a report of stray horses roaming a ditch bank." After wrangling the three escaped equines into an enclosure, the responding officers attempted to document their handiwork when a bombastic bird entered the scene and quickly made its presence known.
The territorial turkey suddenly went after one of the cops while his partner exclaimed "oh my god, it's attacking you." The flustered officer quickly deployed his baton for protection as the bellicose bird seemingly sized him up for another attempted assault. Though cops ultimately managed to get past the animal to a gate at the edge of the property, the tenacious turkey never gave up in its pursuit, following the perceived interlopers at a close distance as they made a hasty exit from the scene.
