A children's author in Ireland could not believe her eyes when she stumbled upon a puddle that was thawing from below and, in the process, looked as if it were inhabited by some kind of mysterious alien creatures. The captivating scene was reportedly captured by Elizabeth Rose Murray as she was out for a walk in the village of Glengarriff earlier this month. Although she initially didn't think much of the frozen patch of water on the ground, the area caught her attention thanks to a strange sound that drew her over to take a look.
When Murray got closer to the puddle, she saw that a stream of water had created a fantastic illusion wherein dark air bubbles formed beneath the ice and appeared as if they were alive. The author shared footage of the wondrous scene on Twitter, where it garnered hundreds-of-thousands of views. Marveling at the mesmerizing nature of what she had seen, Murray mused that "I think it's even more important than ever to share images and videos that might bring people some calm or joy" during these difficult times.
