Was the Moon Landing Faked?

"You had one astronaut kicking me, one punching me, all we need is one spitting on me and we'll have a good trilogy," investigative reporter Bart Sibrel told George this past Monday night. Sibrel incurred the wrath of such astronauts as Buzz Aldrin and Ed Mitchell by insisting that the 1969 Apollo mission to the moon was faked. His video "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way To The Moon," includes footage of the Apollo mission from what he says was an undiscovered tape that had been mislabeled and subsequently came into his possession. The tape clearly shows how the missions were staged, Sibrel believes, which was done as a Cold War tactic to trick the Soviet Union into thinking the US had greater ability that it did.

Some people try to deny the holocaust Sibrel said. "There were 100 million witnesses to World War II, but there were only three witnesses to each moon mission and it was simply proven by a black and white television picture completely controlled by the federal government."

For Bart Sibrel the smoking gun of his supposition concerns a scene in the tape where one sees a picture of the Earth with the blackness of space around it. "When in fact, it's a circular window in Earth's orbit. They put a transparency over the window with the sun behind it. They turn out the lights and then pull the camera away from the window and it looks like the Earth is floating in the blackness of space as if they are approaching the moon. But we have the outtakes where an arm gets in front of the window-- you know it's either the arm of God on the window or they're faking the shot," Sibrel said.

Sibrel's controversial theory certainly riled up Coast's listeners. George announced that he had received more email during this show than any other past program he'd done, with 90% of the responses running against Sibrel's assertion. Is it because we want to believe our government wouldn't lie to us or that Bart Sibrel hadn't made his case? As George said, we leave it for you to decide.
