In this special program, George Noory interviewed each of the current Coast to Coast AM guest hosts in separate half-hour segments, speaking to them about how they got their start in broadcasting, and their recent projects. First up, Ian Punnett talked about his long association with Coast to Coast, dating back to the year 2000. He estimated that he's hosted some 600 shows over the years. While he is still affected by tinnitus, he has learned not to let it bother him. Among his latest endeavors, Ian said he is co-writing a book about millennial leadership and how Moses is an example of a leader in hard times. Ian is also offering an online course on podcasting through Kansas State University, where he teaches.
Richard Syrett joined George next talking about his start in radio as a call screener at CFRB in Toronto, which has been on the air since 1927. He moved into story producing, and eventually started hosting his own shows in the 1990s. Richard, who has been guest hosting for Coast since 2009, has a long-standing fascination with the big questions, like why are we here and what happens when we die. In a segment with Connie Willis, she recounted how she and George share a good friend in TV broadcaster David Wittman. She also spoke about her interest with aliens, UFOs, and ghosts, and her most recent fascination with Bigfoot. Connie reported seeing one of the creatures first hand on one of her expeditions.
George Knapp appeared next, and revealed that his conception of the UFO mystery was shaken up by his study of Skinwalker Ranch, with its odd combination of unexplained activity that went beyond just UFOs. "Reality is a lot stranger than we might think it is," he noted, "and somehow these phenomena are interrelated." Knapp shared how he left a teaching gig at a university to get started in broadcasting, working his way up in a Las Vegas TV station. He enjoys hosting Coast programs and the vitality of interviewing original writers and thinkers in a longer format.
Lisa Garr talked about how COVID was putting a huge dent in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, where she's based, though the quarantine could be an opportunity to foster helpful new habits and patterns. She told George how a near-death experience kicked off her interest in spiritual and transformative topics some years ago. Jimmy Church closed out the special recalling his meetings with George Noory before he began guest hosting on C2C. Jimmy talked about his particular love of ancient mysteries like Gobekli Tepe, and the kismet factor of how he practically lives across from the Sherman Oaks studio where Coast is broadcast.
George ended this unique evening, playing a recording of a new song with vocals by Robert Davi, "Virus Stay Away From The Door!"
Technology Update
Lauren Weinstein has been involved with the development of the Internet for decades. He began his involvement in the early '70s at the first site of the Internet's ancestor, the Defense Department ARPANET. In the first hour, he discussed historical aspects of technology, and its impact on individuals and society. Regarding the problem of emails being hacked, the primary method of entry is through "phishing attacks," he explained, where people are tricked into clicking on a link that compromises their security. The surveillance of users' web browsing data has been debated, he reported, and a Court of Appeals in New York ruled that warrants are not always required to access this personal data.
