Archangel Program / Internet Through Power Lines

Date

Hosted byArt Bell

Art welcomed David Race Bannon, who said he worked for the international law enforcement agency Interpol for 18 years, and which attempted to prevent the publication of his book. As part of the “Archangel” division, it was his team's mission to investigate child trafficking rings, which have been associated with rape, murder and pornography. Bannon also outlined how torture was used to elicit information from suspects. He claimed that Interpol even assassinated individuals whom they regarded as dangerous. He said he and others often became addicted to the “bloodlust” of aspects of their jobs. He felt that his involvement in these activities was justified, considering the horrendous crimes he witnessed, even though he admitted that it amounted to vigilantism. Bannon reported that Archangel program was disbanded in 1991.

In the first 90 minutes, Art welcomed Jim Haynie, the president of the American Radio Relay League, and Joe Walsh (of the rock band the Eagles) to talk about a proposed program to send internet over power lines.
