Guest for the entire program, author Dannion Brinkley, is an expert in the field of near-death experiences (NDEs). He described his first NDE, where he was struck by lightning and died for 28 minutes, and the second instance, which happened during open heart surgery. Brinkley said that in the NDE, as he and countless others have experienced, "you will be surrounded by light and met by a relative or friend."
The most significant part of an NDE, he continued, is the "panoramic life review" in which the dying person literally experiences the reaction of every person they have ever encountered and that "a lot of times, that can be hell." Brinkley contended that "about 75% of what you hear [about spirituality] is a lie." He also predicted religious wars in the near future and described his recent trip to Egypt to see the opening of a fabled "Hall of Records," but nothing happened.
He said that upcoming discoveries in the Yucatan, Peru, Egypt, and China, however, would reveal old records about the destiny of the Earth and humanity and a "cultural history of 5 million years" and change how we look at the past and ourselves. He remarked, "We are not humans trying to have mystical lives, we are great, powerful, and mighty spiritual beings trying to have human lives."
