In the first hour, a ham radio operator named Tom (who described himself as a "science kind of guy") spoke about a series of mysterious and startling poltergeist events in his home. He recalled it started with things being moved around the house, and progressed to incidents such as his son being kicked when no one was around, "shadowy type of figures" in his peripheral vision, and shimmering colored shapes darting through the house. Something trapped his wife in the bathroom, turned off the lights, and apparently held the door shut for a short period of time. The phenomena followed them to a new home as well in November of 2003.
A paranormal investigator left a pad of paper and a pencil alone in a room to see if a spirit would react, and Tom said the word "boo" appeared. Soon after, the entity, who said her name was "Sarah James," appeared as a fully-formed figure of a child of about 6-7 years old with a "look of admiration" on her face, and wearing 19th-century clothing. Tom's wife Ann came on to back up his claims and offer her own testimony, describing a soap dish that flew across the bathroom and smashed against a wall.
Art then played a news report and interview he gave to the Amateur Radio Newsline concerning his very negative opinion on a proposal to send internet through power lines. The rest of the program featured news and Open Lines, including an account from a man who was shot at random while driving through Los Angeles, a startling story of an apparent spontaneous out-of-body experience, a ghost story from a police officer, and a recollection of a strange "beautiful woman" with six fingers on each hand who gave a miraculous piano lesson to a little girl.
