During this unique Open Lines show, a 5.1 earthquake in Alaska had just occurred and Art opened a line for residents that felt it. Dave in Anchorage felt a "little tremor," more powerful than most tremors he'd previously experienced. A woman from the area also reported that she felt the quake.
Art talked about his cat and how it plays with mice, which leads to a recurring joke about "mouse-flavored cat food." A few callers want to discuss their cats too, and why they don't really eat mice. Another man calls with a dream about the end of the world. Still another declared that "we are all slaves" under the military-industrial complex. In hour three, Art asks: "When it rains, why don't sheep shrink?"
During the first hour of the program, National (then Seattle) UFO Reporting Center director Peter Davenport discussed and took calls about an apparent mass UFO sighting ongoing in Texas. A young man witnessed a cluster of five lights arranged in a straight line with a unique green color - the other lights had a yellow tinge to them. Davenport received another call from this region from a young lady who was emotionally affected by what she saw. She and her friend grabbed onto each other in fear and amazement at what they saw. Peter received a third call that described a very similar object. Art compared the sightings to the Phoenix Lights.
