Biography:

Steve Alten is the NY Times & international best-selling author of nineteen thrillers and a rom-com (written under the pen name L.A. Knight). His MEG series has been optioned to producer Belle Avery, with the first major motion picture (starring Jason Statham) debuting in August of 2018 where it was #1 at the box office both foreign & domestic, grossing over $560 million. The sequel, MEG-2: The TRENCH debuts August 4, 2023. Steve has also optioned his novels The LOCH & GOLIATH to Belle, his original screenplay, Mr. Irrelevant was optioned by producer Ken Atchity, and his rom-com, Dog Training the American Male is in development, produced by Iris Brayden.

After being inundated with e-mail from teens who hated reading …until they read MEG, and learning high school teachers were using the novel as part of their curriculum, Steve launched (Fall 1999) Adopt-An-Author, a non-profit free teen reading program that supports teachers with curriculum materials, projects, tests, and preps for state exams. Students and teachers also receive direct access to Steve Alten via email, classroom conference calls and personal visits. Steve’s latest project is SeaMonsterCove.com, a groundbreaking multi-media entertainment experience where members can interact with the most terrifying sea monsters and prehistoric sharks in history.
