Joe Augustyn's love of all things spooky and strange was instilled by his grandmother, who told stories of ghosts and exorcisms she'd witnessed as a farm girl in Europe. Compulsively creative since childhood, Joe won awards for his oil paintings but was later drawn to writing and filmmaking. After winning a Nissan FOCUS Award for writing he completed a Producing Fellowship at The American Film Institute (AFI). He wrote and produced the original cult horror film NIGHT OF THE DEMONS and followed it with a sequel.
Joe quit screenwriting to write novels, a more satisfying medium for a writer, providing a direct unfiltered connection to the reader. An active member of the Horror Writers Association, Joe shares a genuinely haunted but happy home in Philadelphia with two cats and an occasional mischievous spirit, a subject he is covering in GHOSTWRITER, a book of true ghost stories.
