Lamar Waldron

Lamar Waldron

Biography:

Lamar Waldron holds a Masters degree in Counseling and Psychology from Georgia State University, and had a successful career in that field before devoting himself to the JFK field in 1989, in the wake of the previous year's 25th anniversary of JFK's assassination. After spending two years pursuing the usual leads in the JFK case, Waldron and his research collaborator Thom Hartmann decided to focus on JFK aides who had might have important information they'd never revealed.

Starting with JFK's Secretary of State Dean Rusk, Waldron and Hartmann eventually got inside information from two dozen associates of JFK and RFK, specifically about JFK's top secret 1963 Cuba plans and how the Mafia infiltrated and used those plans to kill JFK. They also found how key Watergate participants were part of those efforts. In the 1990s, Waldron helped key staff members of the JFK Assassination Records Review Board to locate and release thousands of pages of files about those matters.

Waldron used that material to write two books about the JFK assassination, "Ultimate Sacrifice" (2005 and updated in 2006) and Legacy of Secrecy (2008, updated 2009), that were both turned into Discovery Channel television specials by NBC News. For his latest book, Watergate: The Hidden History--Nixon, the Mafia, and the CIA, Waldron obtained from the National Archives the first files officially linking the Mafia to Watergate, and showing what the Watergate burglars were really after.
