Precognition Experiments

About the show

Parapsychologists Jeffrey Mishlove and James Spottiswoode appeared together on Thursday's night show to discuss an experiment in precognition that has been yielding startling results. In the human mind there may be an "extraordinary effect that's coming back from the future and affecting the brain earlier in time," said Spottiswoode. Their next such experiment will be held in Los Angeles on March 2nd.

The experiment involves measuring arousal levels via skin conductor responses, as subjects listen on headphones to sporadic bursts of sound. What the studies have revealed is that there is a statistically significant response that occurs approximately three seconds before the sound is heard, as if the person's body were reacting to the blast before it actually came. "It could be that consciousness in some sense is de-localized, spread out...so it moves a little bit ahead, a little bit behind physical time," Spottiswoode conjectured.

This short term precognition could be evolutionary in nature Spottiswoode believes, such that species with this ability might avert danger and survive. Mishlove was excited about the potential practical applications of this research which he suggested could eventually lead to remarkable new innovations. The study of physics could even be altered by these findings which indicate that the concept of the past creating the present may be misguided Spottiswoode pointed out. He added that the Univ. of Pittsburgh is planning similar experiments but including EEG patterns to possibly associate a "neurological signature" to this phenomenon.

Exercises in Precognition

Jeffrey Mishlove and James Spottiswode will be inviting people to participate in a precognition experiment that will take place in Los Angeles this Sunday. For those who would like to try peering into the future at home, Jane Robert's book How to Develop Your ESP Power offers some fun exercises.

Roberts, acclaimed for channeling the "Seth" entity, received a message from him about the elusive nature of time. "Physical time is basically meaningless to the subconscious, and…the inner self has at its command a knowledge of past lives," Seth said. Indeed, one may also have access to future events. Along those lines Roberts has suggested a simple exercise to chart one's premonitions and intuitions.

Once a day, at a convenient time, sit down alone, Roberts suggests. "You are going to predict future events for yourself…Merely write: Predictions for (Monday) made Monday 8 A.M. or whatever time you set aside. Then write down the number 1. Now write down whatever comes to mind," she wrote. Roberts said the trick is to not consciously try to imagine what will happen that day or to question what you write. "You may write one word only, or a phrase, or perhaps a sentence…Continue till you have at least five predictions listed for the day," she outlined. In keeping track of your records, Roberts believes you might discover your own hidden precognitive abilities at work.
