  • About the show

The first two hours featured Kathleen McConnell (book link) discussing her experiences with the spirit children who lived in the attic of her historic home, Fontaine Manse (1871). Shortly after moving into the large brick, three-story house, McConnell and her husband were awakened from sleep one night when their home's inner doors began opening and slamming shut on their own. Other odd occurrences, such as missing shoes, mysterious footsteps, and the sound of a bouncing basketball, convinced McConnell that Fontaine Manse was also home to spirit children.

McConnell said she actually witnessed a little girl standing in her nursery window, holding up three fingers. She believes the spirit was telling her that a total of three entities dwelled in the house. Curiously, after consulting a Ouija board with a friend, one of McConnell's sons informed her that three children had died there in 1900 of Scarlet Fever.

During her time at Fontaine Manse, McConnell says the spirit children became part of her family. She even bought Christmas presents for them. Overall, McConnell says she and her family had a very positive experience living in a "haunted" house.

    Ghost Stories

During Open Lines George opened a "Ghost" hotline especially for spirits and apparitions (collect calls were not accepted). One caller said she thought she was a ghost because she can "tune into" the newly dead and uses this ability to escort spirits over to the other side. According to the caller, she has helped hundreds of ghosts cross over. On one occasion, she said she had to pull the "astral arm" of a particularly stubborn spirit to get him to go to the other side. Another caller said one night he saw the disembodied, legless torso of a little girl "running" around his house. Initially, the caller thought he was dreaming, however he soon realized that he was awake when he saw his dog jump out of the way of the runaway spirit.
