  • About the show

Researcher and author Rupert Sheldrake returned to the show to discuss unusual perceptions that he has studied in humans and animals. People can often sense they are being stared at, even when they can't see the person looking at them, he has discovered through controlled experiments. Sheldrake explained this phenomenon by suggesting that when a person looks at someone their "field of attention" travels outwards and interacts with the other person's "field of awareness," and this is what they are sensing.

In another study, he demonstrated that certain dogs could sense when their owners were going to return home and began to wait by the window, even though there were no sensory clues or routinely scheduled times to cue the pet. He concluded that the dogs were probably tapping into a type of telepathy.

Sheldrake has also studied human precognition and said he has gathered a variety of disturbing dreams and visions people had just before 9-11, that were backed up by secondary witnesses. He noted that there are Internet sites where people can make a public record of their predictive visions.
