  • About the show

World renowned author, Deepak Chopra, appeared during the middle two hours of the show to discuss his latest work, The Book of Secrets, which he said stemmed from his past 25 years of contemplation and meditation. The United States ranks 16th worldwide in happiness, he noted, behind poorer countries such as Columbia, Cuba and Nigeria. This suggests to him that there is more happiness in societies based on relationships than consumerism.

By getting in touch with the hidden dimensions of our existence, we can reach greater contentment in our lives, Chopra explained. There is a "non-local domain," a field that incorporates all that is, that is the source of all fulfillment, and this can be accessed through meditation rather than sensory experience, he detailed.

"As a human soul, you play an infinity of roles," and the physical being is like the print out of the soul, he continued. "Your soul is always there," as part of the "non-local" realm, just like "my voice is not inside [the mechanical parts of] your radio," yet you experience it nonetheless.

    Voting Machine Update

First hour guest, investigative journalist Bev Harris discussed problems in the electronic voting machines which will be widely used in the coming election. One of her biggest concerns is during the period of November 3rd through the 12th, when she suspects auditing problems will show up. Further, she said in Florida the electronic machines have been crashing and there may be problems with screen calibration which could cause mistakes in voting. There have also been problems with the computerized voter registration system, Harris added.

    The Forgiveness Line

In the 4th hour, George conducted a special Open Lines, fielding callers who explained why they either could forgive or not forgive people for past transgressions.
