  • About the show

During the first half of Friday's show, UFO investigator Peter Davenport of the National UFO Reporting Center presented new UFO cases. Joining him on the program were MUFON field investigators Sam Maranto and Vic Conner, who discussed a peculiar mass sighting of three red lights over Tinley Park, Illinois.

According to Maranto and Conner, hundreds of witnesses saw a triangular formation of three red lights (view image) in the skies over Tinley Park on August 21, 2004 and October 31, 2004. Davenport described the pattern of lights as "totally incompatible" with known aircraft, and Conner said the object was probably about one mile in length. Despite their investigation, each one admits the case remains a mystery.

Friday's broadcast also marked Davenport's 10th Anniversary as a Coast guest. He shared several other dramatic and memorable UFO cases, including one from 1893 about a cigar-shaped object -- dubbed the "electric monster" by witnesses -- that was spotted hovering above Puget Sound. Davenport also played an audio clip of a woman from Ohio describing her encounter with a UFO in 1995.

    La Llorona Tales

The second half of Friday's show featured Open Lines with a special emphasis on "La Llorona," a Hispanic legend about the ghost of a weeping woman who haunts the Rio Grande river looking for her lost children. A caller from Texas claimed the story was true, and said he and some friends heard what could have been a crying woman near the area where the incident reportedly took place.

In a slightly related call, a John Wayne fan reported seeing a "UFO cloud" flying behind the actor's head in a scene from John Ford's famous 1950s western Rio Grande. Another caller to the "La Llorona" hotline said he heard a "wailing noise" one night near the Rio Grande and saw a light crisscrossing the river.
