  • About the show

The last half of the show featured author Rosemary Ellen Guiley who discussed her forthcoming book, The Encyclopedia of Magic and Alchemy (due out Spring 2006), as well as dreams and UFOs.

Guiley said magic involves "petitioning higher powers to bring change into the world." She talked about several types of magic, including ceremonial, folk, bizarre, and black magic. According to Guiley, black magic is the use of the "infernal powers" for base material gain or to harm others. She said wishing someone ill, calling on demons, and using powers to find treasure are forms of black magic.

Guiley also addressed the topic of dreams, which she said free the mind from the constraints of waking consciousness. Through dreams we can learn about the situations we're in, see into the future, and view other-worldly beings. Whenever she is seeking guidance or vision, Guiley asks for a dream. Regarding UFOs, Guiley believes that our planet has been visited, extraterrestrials currently live among us, and we will soon have "irrefutable evidence" of contact.

    Codex Update

During the second hour, Dr. Robin Falkov gave an update on the UN's Codex Alimentarius Commission, which is working through the European Union to ban many popular nutritional supplements as soon as August 2005.

Falkov said the United States has reason to fear what Codex is doing in Europe because it is part of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which uses a "mechanized system of international coercion" to achieve its ends. As an example, she pointed out the WTO recently ruled that US tariffs protecting its domestic steel industry were illegal under international law. The WTO's Dispute Settlement Body informed President Bush that unless Congress removed the tariff they would impose trade sanctions on Florida Citrus Growers. Falkov imagines the same strong-arm tactics will be used to restrict the sale of vitamins and nutritional supplements in the U.S.
