Open Lines featured the "Outdoor Scary Hotline" in which callers shared intense incidents that happened to them while outside. We heard about a teenage girl that repeatedly saw a 7 ft. tall wolf-like creature, a man's in-the-dark encounter with a rattlesnake on a ledge at Lake Shasta, and how a young boy crawled inside a giant hornet's nest to retrieve his basketball.
Spooky tales also came in that included an account of a haunted truck that had a radio that would suddenly turn on, and a gazebo where strange music was heard every Friday night, though no one was ever seen there. A couple from Northern California shared a story of how they threw a baseball cap out of their running car and then over 50 miles later it mysteriously appeared back on the dashboard.
The Human Calculator
First hour guest, the 'Human Calculator' Scott Flansburg discussed numbers, calendars and the significance of the upcoming date of 6/6/06, which he called "an alarm clock for the human mind." If you take all the denominations of US currency (except for the $2 and $20) it adds up to $666 he noted. Flansburg shared his idea for a new calendar, which is similar to the Mayans, and contains 13 months of 28 days. Every date of the month would always fall on the same day of the week in this arrangement, he pointed out.
