  • About the show

Journalist and ghosthunter Jeff Belanger discussed his work compiling ghost stories and the challenge of viewing the phenomenon in both a scientific and spiritual context. Credible eyewitnesses have convinced him that the phenomenon is real, yet what ghosts actually are still remains in question, he said. Human perceptions and past experiences can play a role in how people interpret ghostly activity. The degree of energy that a spirit is manifesting can also be a factor in what is experienced, he theorized. For instance, a floating orb would require less energy than a solid apparition.

Belanger described a case he investigated in Boston in which ghosts were haunting an exotic dancer's studio. Unexplained voices and footsteps were heard, and anomalies, such as a bird-like apparition, appeared on video. The dancer believed it was the presence of two male spirits who enjoyed watching her performances.

One of Belanger's upcoming projects is a children's non-fiction book about the haunted White House, which looks at history through the eyes of the ghosts. He was able to visit the White House and speak with long time staff members such as Secret Service agents, one of whom confirmed that Lincoln's ghost indeed haunts the second floor.
