'Hope' Line

About the show

During Open Lines, George offered a special 'Hope' hotline in honor of Coast producer Tom Danheiser's uncle, who passed away recently. Anthony in Illinois recounted the unusual circumstances surrounding the time his mom was diagnosed with a large brain tumor. While in the hospital, Anthony said he and his mom were visited by "an extremely handsome looking Hawaiian gentleman with striking features." According to Anthony, the Hawaiian man put his hand on his mother's head, asked him to say the Lord's Prayer, gave them communion, and said "everything will be okay." Anthony said the man mysteriously vanished and when his mom was given more tests they found the tumor had shrunk to the size of the tip of a baby's finger.

One caller told George that his dog's personality changed after he had the animal implanted with a microchip ID. Before the dog was very aggressive, the caller explained, but after the implant he became like a docile cat. Another caller phoned in with a story that was similar to last Friday's tale about a 'Dragonfly Spy Drone.' According to this week's caller, a robotic dragonfly landed on his boat while he and his brother were fishing in Lake Erie. The two watched as the insect drone took off, hit the side of a railroad bridge and vanished in a puff of smoke. They found no trace of the unusual bug except for some purple-colored liquid, the caller noted. He also said that four U.S. Coast Guard boats were patrolling the area after the dragonfly crashed.

In the last half hour, George presented his rendition of H.G. Wells' The Story of the Inexperienced Ghost.

Wisdom of the Tao

In the first hour, George spoke with self-empowerment expert Dr. Wayne Dyer about his new book, Change Your Thoughts - Change Your Life: Living the Wisdom of the Tao. Based on the 81-verse Tao Te Ching by Lao-tzu, Dyer said he gave up all of his possessions for one year in order to meditate on and practice these ancient teachings. According to Dyer, one must "think small" to accomplish big things and "let go and allow" success to happen.
